Author of A Brief Silence I grew up in the Toledo area in Foster care until I was adopted at nine-years-old with my older brother. I grew up with my older brother and my three younger brothers in Delta, Ohio after my adoption. I always had a passion for reading and writing as a kid and I had a dream of one day publishing a book about my life. In 2018, after my grandma passed away, I decided to start writing my story so I could leave that legacy on to my children one day. Over the last five years of writing, my book turned into something more and I decided it was something I should share with others. My hope is to raise awareness about foster care and how growing up in the system can affect someone's life. I also wanted to use this book to bring awareness to people considering adopting but are afraid to adopt older children. My brother and I were nine and ten years old when we were adopted and the chances of us being adopted at those ages after being in foster care for six years were not great. We got luckily because someone took a chance on us. My brother and I are now grown up and living the best lives we can and we owe it all to our adoptive parents who took a chance and gave us a second chance at life!
